Unter Beteiligung der 38 Gesellschafter hat sich die altonale GmbH als fester Akteur der Hamburger Kulturlandschaft etabliert. Rund 2.000 Künstler, 180 Organisationen und zahlreiche Geschäftsleute und Firmen stellen alljährlich ein außergewöhnliches Kulturprogramm aus dem Stadtteil für den Stadtteil und weit darüber hinaus auf die Beine.
